I Love You, Michael Collins by Lauren Baratz-Logsted

It’s the summer of 1969. You know: the Apollo 11 expedition to put a man on the moon. Tang. Women’s Lib. The summer Mamie’s family falls apart.

I picked up I Love You, Michael Collins expecting a book about the space program, but it is instead a beautiful story about family and persistent and courage.  Mamie is a charming narrator, and it was a great choice for our family’s final read of the school year. Highly recommended for kids and adult everywhere, whether they like Tang or not.
